The DVD, directed at intermediate to advanced fiddle players, is the first from the Grammy Award winning legend. The DVD is formatted with scene selections that take the student through two classics, “Cheyenne” and “Faded Love”, showing close ups of Hicks’ fingers on the strings and his bowing technique. Two other songs are used as exercises for the viewer and he takes a special approach to double stops. The lessons are further personalized by Hicks’ narration. Included in the DVD are “Hicks Tricks” and a detailing of Hicks’ philosophies on Music Theory, Technique, Intonation and Style. Simply stated, Hicks says, “I think it’s still important to develop your listening ear and play with your heart.” In totality, the DVD has powerful lessons for anyone interested in fiddling.
